Will Lamb holdout as heads to final year of rookie deal?
Dallas WR CeeDee Lamb has forced himself into the conversation of one of the best WR in the league. He is a true game changer...and knows it. Not in a bad way, but he is aware he is a stud. Obviously.
He is preparing to enter the final year of his rookie contract, and as most players at his caliber do, he is preparing to possibly holdout until a new deal is done.
Per Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, Lamb — who is entering the final year of his rookie contract — probably won't participate in the Cowboys' offseason program until he signs a new deal.
"Lamb is an elite player on the cusp of market-resetting compensation. Participating in the spring under a rookie-contract team option is not what elite players do," wrote Gehlken. "San Francisco 49ers outside linebacker Nick Bosa and New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams were both AP first-team All-Pro picks in 2022. The next spring, they skipped every team workout rather than report on their fifth-year option."
He is due $17.99 million this upcoming season, his last under contract. Some sources have him listed as being worth around 4-years, $28 Million a year.
Last season, Lamb dominated - 135 receptions, 1,700 yards, 12 TDs. He is worth that cash, but will the Cowboys be smart enough to get it done or will he sitout, lose valuable reps and possibly be behind when he reports at the end of camp?
We will see, but we all know what will happen - he will start by holding out, Cowboys will cave halfway through camp, and we are all happy. Why not just get the deal done now?
